Take all you wanted and leave right after How far have you traveled? And where have you gone? If it has to wait, let it wait a while If time is an object, leave me a smile At last, we’ll meander and sit at the table You’ll warm up the oven and dance to this song If it has to wait, let it wait a while If time is an object, leave me a smile All night, up tight, look right, just might quit Just contemplating every wave Just considering every change that you’d find it in Get back to the things you want to exist Stop taking your time dwelling on it Get back to the things you want to exist Stop taking your time dwelling on it Get back to the things you want to exist Stop taking your time dwelling on it Get back to the things you want to exist Stop taking your time dwelling on it All night, up tight, look right, just might...

When it comes, in time When it comes to you When it comes, in time Is there something I can do for you? When it comes, in time When it comes to pass When it comes, in time Will you give it the room to last? When it comes, in time If there’s hope too When it comes, in time Is there something to help get you through?

Cold air in the evening, sun still warm Dropping layers gracefully before you’re home Whether wistfully wearing warm weather clothes or bundled up for the cold Dreaming of Denmark and baby’s breath bouquets Lost in thought of little island towns, where we’d escape Whether whimsical wishes washed away or if you quietly contemplate It’s nice driving home slowly In the golden light, your gentle eyes on me It’s nice staying in for the weekend With your gentle eyes, golden light’s fleeting Poorly practiced landscapes, seasonally apropos Recognizing places we’ve only seen covered in snow You’re wrapped up in blanket but still wearing linens And the forest sounds singing It’s nice driving home slowly In the golden light, your gentle eyes on me It’s nice staying in for the weekend With your gentle eyes, golden light’s fleeting It’s nice driving home slowly In the golden light, your gentle eyes on me

Waterfalls - Endless Rain Washing away thoughts to be betrayed Holding true - A safe place Let all your pain wash away Half of it can wait. Half of complicitly lingered anyways. All the lonely places that you return to All the lonely places that were home to you It must be you Sure enough, it finally came Open the windows in the rain Half of it can wait. Half of complacently lingered anyways. All the lonely places that you return to All the lonely places that were home to you It must be you At least there are dreams to be had

Never was another thing that you ever called real That could ever replace all the ways that you feel I’d recognize you in a crowded room I still feel the same, still feel the same as you’d assume Another time, another way, in another round Didn’t anyone warn you? That their advice was never going to be that sound And I don’t know how long I’ll be around But I only really care about you It doesn’t even matter! Let’s get out of town Whenever you want to! Let’s leave now I just want to get out and sail again And feel that warm breeze on my skin And I only really care about you
7.
You were in Marrakech and I ran off to Montreal Days weaving like slow changing seasons And my fragile mannerisms In a small cafe in East Berlin In December and I’m stealing Our days away and seasons change Moving at a gentle pace [dream sequence] Now we’re at home with our books and our dog The winter winds don’t last that long [natural motion]
8.
Little mountain, tell me have you found it? Water colours and absent lovers I’m sending this to you, with love Little mountain, tell me have you found it? In the garden, washed in moonlight I’m sending this to you, with love Is it all that you wanted? It was a lot of talking And is that why you came back with crying eyes? The piano is dusty The bread has gone mouldy And is that why you left fast with crying eyes? Little mountain, tell me have you found it? In the desert, with your own work, in the desert I’m sending this to you, with love

This world feels proof to change But tomorrow is another day On the same light On the same line All night, up tight waiting Old times, less time wasting Spent time overstating ‘self’ Even good intention With never ending doubt Sword driven deep; cut cold breath in your mouth We’re on the same side All night, up tight waiting Old times, less time wasting Spent time overstating ‘self’ All night, up tight waiting Old times, less time wasting Spent time overstating ‘self’ In my element, in spring In my element, in spring It’s time to revisit all my endless revisions In my element, in spring In my element...

about

The nine folk-rock tracks that make up Kyles Stephens’ debut album Considering Every Change invite us to celebrate our surroundings and bend towards life’s difficult shifts with grace. Before these compositions came to fruition, the life-long musician took a creative sabbatical. He focused on his career in environmental science and data analysis. With time, that creative hunger returned and Stephens began writing again. That patience and introspective compassion is evident in these sprawling compositions of warm acoustic guitars, steadfast drums, and rich piano embellishments. It was recorded at fellow Canadian musician Jonas Bonnetta’s Port William Sound studio in Mountain Grove between two sessions at the height of Ontario summer and winter. Whether Stephens is singing about valuing his relationship and the memories it's gifted him, the swift changing of seasons, or emitting a signal of love for friendships that have naturally drifted away, his music reminds us to pause and listen. -- Margaret Farrell

I would like to acknowledge that the writing of this album took place on Indigenous land that we now refer to as Toronto, Ontario (Treaty 13). I am fortunate to live in the traditional territories of the Anishinabewaki, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat, and the Mississauga of the Credit. I would also like to honour the area we now refer to as Mountain Grove, Ontario (Treaty 27). I was able to record this album on the traditional lands of the Omàmiwininiwak (Algonquin), Huron-Wendat, and the Anishinabewaki. I am thankful for this beautiful land that I call home.
